I Hope You Dance

This is a gorgeous journal, given to me by my wonderful Mum.

I've had it for a couple of years, but can't bring myself to write in it, because it's so beautiful! Mum found it in while on holiday in the States and brought it back for me because 'my' song is on the first page. When I had a total physical and emotional breakdown at the end of my second year at uni, Mum gave me Lee Ann Womack's 'I Hope You Dance' because she said it was perfect for me, and I needed reminding of who I really was!

I have just read WomagWriter's lovely answers to the Vibrations Meme:

"And the best of all, take a walk along the cliff top where I live, in Southbourne. Focus my gaze on the horizon, listen to the waves pounding the shore, remind myself that I'm just a little thing in this big wide world, in this big wide universe. Ground myself."

This reminded me of this song (thank you, Womag!), so I thought I'd put it up here and share it with you all:

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder

You may get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger

May you never take one single breath for granted

God forbid love ever leave you empty-handed

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean

Whenever one day closes I hope one more opens

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance ... I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance

Never settle for the path of least resistance

Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin'

Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin'

Don't let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter

When you come close to sellin' out reconsider

Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance

And when you get the chance to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance ... I hope you dance

Time is a wheel in constant motion

Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder

Where those years have gone

I hope you dance ... I hope you dance

I hope you dance

:o)
