Not forgotten, nor forsaken!

Goodness! It's more than a week since I put a post up ... I spent most of last week working on a post about women and the moon, but a friend arrived unexpectedly on Thursday and didn't leave until Monday, so I didn't get chance to finish it over the weekend. And the past three days have just flown by!

So, just a quick post to pass on something a friend sent me by email last week, which I had intended posting on International Women's Day, but which is always relevant ...

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do .
Hearts break.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.

A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you ... or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I.

When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.

Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

Pass this on to all the women who help make your life meaningful.

I just did!

I'll try and post the women and moon post in a couple of days, and catch up with you all properly ... I've missed reading your blogs as much as I've missed writing on mine!

So true.

I don't see my brother very much - he and my sister-in-law split up 20 years ago. But Julie and I just couldn't (and wouldn't) break the bond. We really do feel like blood sisters.

Our youngest children were born only a few weeks apart, so we shared a pregnancy together. My brother left her when the baby was only 7 weeks old, so we quite often found ourselves with two babies to look after instead of one as we used to babysit for each other. Nick and Katie are still very close - more like brother and sister than cousins.

Very true words - sadly I'm not as close to my sister as I used to be :o(

I love this, Moondreamer. I never really had girlfriends until I had children. It wasn't until then that I realised that only women understood what my life was like. I made friends with my sister too. This is a great post!

Annieye, how lovely that you and Julie have such a special relationship, and that Nick and Katie are so close, thank you for sharing that!

I didn't grow up with a sister, but consider my brother's wife to be a sister now. She lives in Australia but she is one of my favourite people, I wished she lived just round the corner!

Thank you, Pacha! It's so good to be back, I've missed you all lots!

Thank you Lane, I wish I knew who'd written it!

Thank you Karen!

Sorry to hear you're not as close to your sister. You're right, it's sad when we grow apart, as we often do. And especially in today's world, I think.

I'm glad you liked it Helen, I think it's beautiful!

I haven't a sister either, or at least not by blood, but I think we find 'sisters' as we make our way through life. I think relationships between women are wonderful things and I really don't know what I would have done sometimes without mine!

Thank you, Leigh! I wish they were my words!

Yes, I think you're right about women understanding each other's lives and it's lovely that you made friends with your sister.
